A viewer for DICOM imaging studies, integrated with the occupational health platform. It lets the physician examine the X-ray straight in the browser, with nothing to install.
The challenge
A medical image is not a photo. An X-ray comes in the DICOM standard, with clinical metadata, calibration and contrast depth that an ordinary image viewer simply discards — and what the doctor sees stops being diagnostic. The traditional alternative is to install a dedicated viewer on every machine that needs to look at an examination. Across a network of clinics, that means support, licensing and updates everywhere.
The solution
MarieCurie brings the viewer into the browser. The studies live in cloud object storage, and the service reads them with a dedicated DICOM library, preserving the metadata and the fidelity of the image. The doctor opens the examination straight from the worker's record, with no installation and no file transfer — which also puts an end to copies of medical images circulating by email. The project is deliberately small and focused: it does one thing, is published independently and shares the same domain as the main platform, which keeps the link between the image and the examination it belongs to.
