A system for speech therapists to perform and report hearing tests. The professional builds the pure-tone and speech audiogram graphically, the system applies the clinical masking rules and the standard symbols, and the report comes out digitally signed.
An audiogram is not a form. It is a chart with rules of its own: each ear, each conduction pathway and each masking condition has a specific, internationally standardised symbol, and misreading one symbol changes the diagnosis. Then there is masking, which is a genuine clinical rule — at certain differences between ears the test has to be redone with noise in the opposite ear, or the result is false. Software that ignores this produces an invalid report. In practice, the test was performed on the audiometer, transcribed onto paper and typed in afterwards. Three opportunities for error in a figure that is the basis of a legal document.
Lyd brings the audiogram onto the screen as an interactive chart. The professional marks the thresholds by frequency and intensity, and the system draws the standard symbols automatically, applies the masking rules and flags when they apply. It covers pure-tone and pure-tone/speech audiometry, with room for clinical observations, and connects to the audiometers registered at the clinic. Once the test is closed, the report is generated and digitally signed with the professional's certificate, and returns automatically to the system that requested it — the examination queue is synchronised between both sides, with caching, so the speech therapist always sees what is theirs.
Four years in production, with 37 domain entities and 10 operational modules. Two-way integration with the occupational health platform: the examination is requested there, performed here, and the result comes back signed with no manual intervention.
